HISTORY OF BARANGAY OLO
Barangay Olo is created through a Law ____________ Congress/ Provincial/City/Municipal Ordinance (Cite the Legal Basis of Creation) on ________________ (Date of Ratification/Plebiscite).
Barangay Olo is one of the 42 barangays under the Municipal Government of Siquijor, a 4th class municipality and a capital of the Province of Siquijor.
According to our forefathers, There is a river found in this place, that which the Spaniards came to its place saw a headlike floating on the water and asked the old-woman about it and the old-woman answered “OLO” that’s why the Spaniards named the Barangay “OLO”. Presently, the barangay is named Barangay Olo.
Based on the 2023 Commission on Election (COMELEC) records, the barangay has six hundred fifty six (656) of registered voters; three hundred thirty six (336) are males and three hundred twenty (320) females. It has Four (4) Precincts 029A, 029B, 029C and 029D .
Barangay Olo has 7 puroks.
